Article Citation :Kazheen Taha , (2017 ) " Heavy Elements Analyses in The Soil Using X-Ray Fluorescence and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectroscopy " , International Journal of Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology(IJASEAT) , pp. 118-120, Volume-5,Issue-1, Spl. Iss-2

Abstract : The analytical techniques XRF and MAD ICP-AES are utilized for determination levels of heavy elements (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Zn and Pb) in soil samples taken from Huddersfield Town. XRF and ICP showed significantly different results. Acid used for extraction conceder digestion rather than extraction solution. Therefore, only bioavailable portion is extracted, whereas, XRF is a direct analyzing technique. Nevertheless, the results are highly affected by the physical and chemical composition of soil. Consequently, higher Conc. for all elements is measured than that with ICP-AES. According to results from ICP-AES, a higher Conc. of elements found in the samples that taken from the town center. After studying the reliability of XRF result for As, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn comparing to ICP-AES. Ni found to be more reliable in all analyzed sample when it has nearly the same concentration in four samples 33.03 ± 7.5 (Mean ± RSD %). Index Terms- Elements, Emission, Plasma-Atomic, X-ray.
