Abstract : The aim of this paper was to estimate the effect of water technology on pesticide residue levels in blackcurrants
and strawberries, obtained from experimental field trials conducted under controlled conditions. The experiment focused on
concentration changes of fungicides: boscalid, bupirimate, pyraclostrobin and insecticides: alpha-cypermethrin, deltamethrin,
lambda-cyhalothrin. The selected pesticide residues were determined by QuEChERS method followed by liquid
chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) after chlorine washing. Reduction for all pesticides
was noted up to 53%. Processing factors for each pesticide were determined and ranged from 0.92
(deltamethrin/blackcurrants) to 0.47 (alpha-cypermethrin/strawberries). The health risk assessments of two subpopulations of
adults and the most critical group of small children, without and with calculated PF values were compared. More realistic
risk characterization was achieved by the application of processing factors in consumer risk assessments.
