Article Citation :Prasad Patil ,Sunita Raut-Jadhav , (2021 ) " Ultraviolet light (UV) based Advanced Oxidation Processes for Degradation of Acetamiprid " , International Journal of Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology(IJASEAT) , pp. 12-16, Volume-9,Issue-2

Abstract : The degradation of acetamiprid (neonicotinoid class of insecticide) has been carried out by using UV and its combination with various advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), Fenton’s reagent. Effect of initial concentration and initial pH of the solution on the extent of degradation of acetamiprid using UV has been investigated initially. The established optimum parameters of initial concentration as 10 ppm and initial pH as 2.5 were then used in the degradation studies of acetamiprid using the combined approaches. Effect of loading of hydrogen peroxide (molar ratio of acetamiprid: H2O2 over the range of 1:2 to 1:20) and Fenton’s reagent (molar ratio of FeSO4.7H2O:H2O2 over the range of 1:40 to 1:20) has been investigated. The combined process of UV with H2O2 and Fenton’s reagent (photo- Fenton process) resulted in 64.30% and 81.98% degradation of acetamiprid in treatment time of 120 min. The present work has established that the photo-Fenton process can be effectively used for degradation of acetamiprid. Keywords - Acetamiprid, Hydrogen peroxide, Fenton, Photo-Fenton, Advanced Oxidation Processes.
