Abstract : This paper deals with the conjugation of Bio-AgNP (Biologically synthesized silver nanoparticles using an endophytic fungi Colletotrichum gloeosporioides isolated from the medicinal plant Withania smonifera (L.)) with the biopolymer chitosan to increase the stability and enable the sustained release of Bio-AgNP. To establish the potency of the conjugate, the compatibility between the nanoparticle and the polymer was extensively studied. Four polymers were selected for the conjugation in the present study and among them chitosan conjugate was more potent with high bioactive efficacy. It showed high antibacterial, antifungal, antibiofilim and antioxidant activities compared to the Bio-AgNP alone. The size and characteristics of the conjugate was studied extensively with X- Ray Diffraction (XRD), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Zeta Potential analysis, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Ultra Violet and visible (Uv) absorption Spectroscopy. In this study no chemicals are used to ensure stabilization or reduction. The main objective of the work is to formulate an effective conjugate of biogenic silver nanoparticle with a biopolymer in a cost effective, nontoxic and environment friendly method. Keywords - Bio-AgNP, Chitosan, Antibacterial, Antifungal, Antioxidant and Antibiofilm.
