Abstract : This paper presents the effect of Tantalum doping on bismuth layered SrBi4Ti4O15 (SBTi) ferroelectric oxide. The
ceramics with nominal formula SrBi4Ti4-xTaxO15(x=0,0.05,0.15,0.25) was prepared by solid state reaction technique. The
ferroelectric and optical studies were performed using ferroelectric hysteresis loop and Diffused Reflectance spectrum,
respectively. It was found that the tantalum doping has not much effect on the band gap values, but it decreased the remnant
polarization of SBTi ceramics.
