Abstract : This paper gives us an insight about the various work carried on strengthening of structural elements like slab and beam. Retrofitting of structural elements by fibre reinforced polymers have been extensively used in the civil engineering field by the present industry. Fibres like glass, carbon, basalt and polypropylene have been used in the study. The literature review helps us to infer that the flexure strength and shear strength of the structural elements is increased by using the fibre reinforced polymer.
