Paper Title :
Synthetic Foods: A Technological Disruption to the Agricultural Production of Food

Author :Bruce Small

Article Citation :Bruce Small , (2018 ) " Synthetic Foods: A Technological Disruption to the Agricultural Production of Food " , International Journal of Advances in Science, Engineering and Technology(IJASEAT) , pp. 57-62, Volume-6, Issue-1

Abstract : Abstract - Intensive agricultural food production currently faces a number of serious challenges. These involve a variety of environmental, social, moral, and productivity issues which are likely to be exacerbated in the future as the planet’s population increases and the middleclass grows. A new technological process, cellular agriculture, offers some potentially solutions. However, cellular agriculture has the potential to be highly disruptive to the current agricultural sector and to economies in which agricultural production plays a significant role. New Zealand is one such economy. The New Zealand agricultural sector needs to start considering how it will be impacted by cellular agriculture and what it must do to adapt in order to survive this disruption. Keywords - Cellular agriculture, in-vitro meat, cell cultured meat, cultured milk, synthetic foods, disruptive technologies
