Paper Title
Detection and Trends of Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid (PFOS) in the Public Water Supply System of Saipan, CNMI

Abstract
Abstract—Groundwater in production well fields of Saipan is contaminated with perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs).We selected perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS)asan indicator of PFAAstounderstandthe spatial and temporal variation of PFAAsingroundwater aquifer and public water systems. PFAAs data collected over five years revealed that the aquifer of the IF-208 site, near the Region Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting Training Center, is impacted by PFOS contamination. PFOS was also detected in other sites in the water systems, such as IsleyBooster 1, IF-28, IsleyReservoir, and KV 21-25, which are relatively far from the IF-208 site. Thus, a PFOS plume seems to keep dispersed from the IF-208 site along with soil layers of the aquifer toward other sites.
