Phytochemicals: Open the Novel Avenues in Cancer Treatment

Abstract
Abstract - In both industrialized and developing countries, cancer is a major public health concern. Although there are numerous cancer treatment options, they are typically uncomfortable owing to side effects and ineffectual due to increased resistance to traditional anti-cancer medications or radiation therapy. In recent years, the discovery of anticancer medicines including natural substances has grown exponentially. Natural chemicals originating from plants are of particular interest because of their high bioavailability, safety, few side effects, and, most importantly, low cost. Flavonoids are polyphenolic chemicals found in nature that make up a wide collection of secondary plant metabolites with intriguing biological properties. Flavonoids have been extensively investigated for their health advantages, in addition to their plentiful availability in our everyday diets, such as green leaves, fruits, red wine, and tea vegetables, due to their nontoxicity in nature and wide and broad aspect of their benefits in biological activities. Flavonoids have anti-cancer properties not just in the initial stages, but also as the disease advances and spread to other parts of the body. This review summarizes the potential role of flavonoids in cancer chemoprevention and their therapeutic role in the prevention of various types of cancer.
