The Fiction within the Fiction- Study of "Poets and the Animals" and "In Danger": The Metafictionality in Elizabeth Costello, by J. M. Coetzee and Fame, by Daniel Kehlmann
Abstract
This article presents a research on two chapters: "In danger" of the novel Fame: a novel in nine stories, by Daniel
Kehlmann (2011) and "The poets and the animals" of Elizabeth Costello by J. M. Coetzee (2004). The center of the
investigation are the characters writers portrayed in both the works and chapters. In the course of the fictions, we can see the
strong metafictional component, reflections on the literary work, as well as the writers' movements in this professional
trajectory. For this, theoretical studies by Zygmund Baumann, on the liquid context, Ottmar Ette, regarding the
displacements and the multilogical in the literature, ZĂȘnia de Faria, who presents an outlook around the metafiction concept
and Viegas, on the "Return of the author" in the fictional landscapes.
