A Study of Mental Health among Male and Female Adolescents in Relation to Rural- Urban Dichotomy

Abstract
The purpose of the present paper is to examine the study of mental health among male and female adolescents in relation to Rural /Urban dichotomy. For the present paper a sample of 100 adolescents (50 rural and 50 urban) were selected. The sample for the study was selected via simple random sampling technique from the different schools of Srinagar (as urban district) and Anantnag (as rural district). The sample was chosen in such a way that every unit of the population could get equal chance to be selected in the sample. In order to collect data mental health scale developed by A.K Singh and Alpana Sen Gupta (Hindi version) and translated into English by Gulnaz was administered for the present sample . The statistical method employed includes Mean, Standard Deviation and T-Test. The results revealed that there is no significant difference between male and female higher secondary school adolescents on mental health. The results also revealed that there is no significant difference between rural and urban higher secondary school adolescents on mental health. Keywords - Mental Health, Adolescents.
