Paper Title
Structure of Hybrid Pva/Silica Nanofibers for Antibacterial Biomedical Applications

Abstract
Preparation of poly(vinyl alcohol)-silica nanofibers with antibacterial activity via electrospinning are presented in this paper. Additives (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane and cetyltrimethylammonium dibromide were also added to the mixture to modify prepared nanofibers properties. The relationships among mixture compounds, how the prepared nanofibers structure and properties are influenced by initial solvent modification and by thermal stabilization temperature are discussed. We assume that mixing of the silica sol and PVA initiates the participation of the silica in poly(vinl acohol) crosslinking process. It was confirmed by Raman spectra and FTIR analysis. Modified poly(vinl acohol)-silica nanofibers with silver and copper nanoparticles show very significant antibacterial activity and are non-toxic. Keywords - hybrid nanofibers silica, poly(vinyl alcohol), antibacterial activity
