Paper Title
Adsorption Thermodynamics of Emulsified Oil on Modified Calcium Alginate Hydrogels

Abstract
Calcium alginate beads modified with maleic anhydride were used for the removal of emulsified oil from water. Modified alginate showed higher adsorption capacity than native alginate. Thermodynamic properties were calculated using Khan and Singh method. The oil adsorption onto modified alginate found to have a complex mechanism involving intraparticle diffusion and a multilayer physisorption. Oil adsorption was exothermic and spontaneous.
