Paper Title
Treatment of Olive Mill Wastewater with Coagulation Process using Different Concentrations of Iron Sulfate Treatment of Olive Mill Wastewater using Coagulation Process

Abstract
Olive oil mill wastewaters (OMW) cause critical environmental problems because of their high level of production and high concentrations of various organic contaminants. This study describes experiments to investigate the effect of different coagulant doses to evaluate chemical oxygen demand (COD), suspended solid (SS) and color removal performance from olive mill wastewater using acid cracking and coagulation-flocculation. This study was carried out in two parts as: acid cracking and coagulation-flocculation, respectively. In the first part, acid cracking was applied with pH value of 1.5 and reaction time of 30 min using hydrochloric acid (HCl). In the second part, the coagulation experiments were carried out with three different concentrations of FeSO4 (1000-5000 mg/L) in jar test by adjusting optimum pH. The experiments demonstrated that the 3000 mg Fe2+/L was found as optimum coagulant dose for the coagulation and 79% COD, and 48.8% color removal were observed using optimum coagulant dose, corresponding to 1500 mg/L. Keywords- acid cracking; chemical treatment; coagulation; iron sulfate; olive wastewater
