Abstract : Image Enhancement is one of the most important and difficult techniques in image research .The aim of image enhancement is to improve the visual appearance of an image, or to provide a better transform representation for future automated image processing .Theobjective of an image enhancement is to change or modify thequality of an image for specific application. The enhancementtechniques can be categorized by spatial domain andfrequency domain methods. In this paper, we present an overview of image enhancement techniques for gray scale images in spatial domain, frequency domain and also give better approach for future research.
