Abstract : The occurrences of TBBPA and HBCDs have been extensively reported in the different environmental aspects such as especially the air in worldwide. In this study, concentrations of two brominated flameretardants, hexabromocyclododecane(HBCD) and tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBPA),were measured in the atmosphere(particle and gas phases) of two Korean cities Suwon and Incheon. Based on the results, the atmospheric ΣHBCD and TBBPA concentrations ranged from8.08pg m-3 to 69.23pg m-3and from1.83pg m-3 to 50.14pg m-3, respectively. Winter measurements revealed that the TBBPA concentrations in three districts of Incheon appeared to correlate directly with the local population density whereas the ΣHBCD concentrations in Incheon atmosphere were varied in cold and warm seasons. The results of this study revealed that the atmospheric Brominated flame retardants (BFR) concentrations in urban areas varied locally with population density and season. Keywords - Flame Retardants, HBCD; TBBPA; Atmosphere; South Korea.
