Abstract : Extended spectrum B-lactamases (ESBLs) producing by Enterobacteriaceae are determined a growing global concern in hospital field, which is produced from the extreme use of antibiotics like ampicillin, amoxicillin and others. The study was accomplished in the Laboratory of Microbiology, Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, Altoosi College University. A total of 68 Klebsiella pneumonia UTI isolates were collected from patients attending Al-Sadr Hospital. The collection period of samples was between July 2019 and October 2019. An antibiotic susceptibility was done to all isolates by the standard disc diffusion method to 20 selected antibacterial agents using widely in treatment. The modified double disc synergy test was used for the detection of B -lactamase production, it performed by using ceftriaxone (30 μg) , cefotaxim (30 μg) , ceftazidime (10 μg) and a combination disc of amoxicillin and clavulanate (30 μg). Out of the total 68 tested Klebsiella pneumonia, 40 (58.8%) were capable to producing ESBLs emzymes. Keywords - Antibiotics ,Antimicrobials, B-Lactamases, Extended Spectrum B-Lactamases, ESBL, Klebsiella Pneumonia , UTI.
