An Adaptive 3-D Ray Tracing Method for Indoor Radio Wave Propagation Prediction

Abstract
This article explains an adaptive 3-D ray tracing (RT) for indoor radio wave propagation prediction. Due to the fascinating facilities of the higher frequency band, its applications are significantly increasing in the indoor radio wave communication system. Although practical measurements provide accurate judgment of performance but it badly needs a huge amount of time, efforts and cost. In this circumstance, a computerized tool would be a smart solution to categorize the wireless channel information by simulation. RT is extensively used to categorize the channel of radio propagation prediction for the indoor wireless communication network. The investigation is made by means of in-house developed software tools. As the space between the base station and the mobile station is much smaller for indoor rather than outdoor scenarios, so the radio wave high frequencies band are highly affected by the building materials as well as by the other obstacles. Here proposed three-dimensional (3-D) optimum ray tracing and the 3-D shooting bouncing ray tracing (SBRT) method are separately applied to three different scenarios. A relational database is used to store simulation’s data mainly geometrical properties and simulation’s environment obstacles properties that help to create new scenarios. Several comprehensive comparisons have been performed between the proposed method and the existing SBRT method output with respect to coverage, path loss (PL), propagation time and the number of ray launching. The comparative result demonstrated that this proposed RT method is better than existing SBRT method.
