Abstract : High-performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and UV spectroscopy is an important tool for the qualitative and quantitative phytochemical, chemo profiling and marker compound analysis of homoeopathic drugs/tinctures (HT). According to the phytoequivalence concept the full HT can be seen as the active compound, because the several constituents act together being responsible for its therapeutic effect. Datura ferox in Homoeopathy frequently used in the treatment of bronchitis in asthma, mental illness, respiratory disorders, ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity) and drug detoxification. Present study reveals the LOD (4.09%), Total Ash (1.99%), Alcohol extractive values (5.24%), Water extractive values (2.94%), Total solids (0.52%), Wt/ml (0.84g) and Alcohol content (72%). In UV Spectroscopy λmax. observed at 209 & 325nm in HT. HPTLC analyses of in house HT were performed by using chloroform methanol (9:1, v/v) as mobile phase. Under UV light (254nm), two spots appear at Rf 0.44, 0.53(brown). Under U.V (366nm), five spots appear at Rf 0.36, 0.43, 0.51, 0.58, 0.81(blue). After spray with Anisaldehyde Sulphuric acid eight spots appears at Rf 0.36(light orange), 0.43(orange), 0.57(blue), 0.62(Purple), 0.66(blue), 0.69(brown), 0.78(purple) and 0.83(blue). The present physicochemical and phytochemical data are to be considered as Pharmacopoeial standards for aforesaid drug Keywords - Datura ferox, Homoeopathic drug, Chemoprofiling, H.P.T.L.C fingerprint.
