Abstract : Cardiovascular disease management is based on relieving the symptoms and mitigating the future risk. The basis of the drug therapy should be to provide drugs according to the clinical needs for an adequate period. This study was carried out to access the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and the prescribing pattern of drugs in the management of different cardiovascular diseases. A retrospective descriptive study was undertaken in cardiovascular unit from May 2017 to July 2017. The most prevailing cardiovascular diseases among the studied ward patient are Hypertension and Atrial Fibrillation. The highly prescribed drug in CVD ward was anti-atherogenic agents and lipid lowering agents. This study recommends early diagnosis of atrial fibrillation to reduce its progression to more fatal cardiovascular disease. The use of warfarin with proper monitoring is suggested for faster and better treatment of AF.
