Chemical Mutagenesis Effect in Sunflower [Helianthus Annus L.] on Seed Germination through Induced Mutation
Abstract
Sunflower [Helianthus annus L.] is an annual plant belongs to the compositae (Asteraceae) family. During recent
studies, the seed of sunflower varieties “Composite (Modern)”; and “LSFH-171” were treated with different concentrations
of chemical mutagens (0.02%,0.04%,0.06% for EMS and 2 m M, 4 m M , 6 m M for AZ). It was found that both varieties
of sunflower responded differentially to EMS and Sodium Azide treatments in respect of seed germination.
