Paper Title
Loss of Free Fatty Acid Receptor (Ffar3) does not impact growth and proliferation of colorectal cell line HCT116

Abstract
Short chain Free Fatty acid receptors (FFAR3) are abundantly expressed in colonic epithelium and several studies have shown that these receptors play an important role in the metabolic homeostasis of colonic epithelial cells and are possibly involved in colorectal carcinogenesis. To understand the role of FFAR3 in colorectal cancer cell growth and proliferation, we engineered HCT116 cell lines to develop FFAR3 Knockdown cells. Loss of FFAR3 was not associated with increase of cell proliferation and invasion and FFAR3 knockdown cells did not show any change in the glucose uptake rate. Since, FFAR2 and FFAR3 have identical ligands (short chain free fatty acids); we speculate that loss of FFAR3 is compensated by the presence of functional FFAR2. Further studies are needed to fully understand the role of FFAR3 by using double knockdown cells (FFAR2/FFAR3 KD). Keywords - Free Fatty Acid Receptors, Colorectal Cancer, HCT116
