Abstract : Influences of variation of grating period, grating depth and the refractive index of the sensing medium on the
properties of grating based SPR sensor have been theoretically analyzed. Grating based SPR sensors utilizing three noble
metals (Au, Ag and Al) have been rigorously discussed. Performance of Al based SPR sensor has been found to be better
than that of Ag, Au based SPR sensors. Apart from that Al based sensor is also affordable.
