Abstract : Brucellosis is a zoonosis caused by Gram-negative bacteria of genus Brucella. The bacteria are transmitted from
animals to humans by ingestion of raw dairy products, the consumption of infected meat from domestic livestock (sheep, goats,
cattle, water buffalo, camels and pigs) and close contact with their secretions and carcasses. The aim of the study is recognition
of pathogenic brucellosis frequency in Vlora region and analysis of the distribution of brucellosis during 2010-2016, based on
serological and epidemiological analysis. Out of 208 positive results, only 7 cases are positive in 2016 and 201 remaining
positive cases are distributed in 5 years (2010 - 2015). In 2012 - 2013 there is a noticeable decrease in the number of people
affected by brucellosis. We notice a low number of positive results during winter and autumn. This number began to increase
in spring and continues throughout the summer months at the same rates until September. During our study we found that
brucellosis as a contagious disease during 2012-2016 presents few cases especially in the last two years studied. This is due
to a sensitizing campaign undertaken by the relevant institutions for the vaccination of animals against brucellosis in
2012-2013.
