Paper Title
Liquefied Petroleum Gas Sensing Performance of Electrodeposited Cuprous Oxide Thin Films at Room Temperature

Abstract
Application of p-type cuprous oxide (Cu2O) thin films fabricated by electrochemical deposition for Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sensors was investigated. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements were performed to investigate the crystal structure of synthesized Cu2O films. According to the XRD patterns, the films had a preferred (200) orientation. The effect of the electrical resistivity change of Cu2O thin film layer in the presence of LPG is used for gas sensing and their response times, and recovery times were examined using LPG gas in dry air 1.5% volume percentage at the room temperature. The compositional analysis investigated using energy dispersive Xray spectrometry (EDAX). The Mott - Schottky plot was used to confirm p-type conductivity of Cu2O thin films. When exposed to a mixture of LP gas and dry air, the resistance of these films increased and LPG gas response was recorded for lowest LP gas concentration of 1.5 vol. % with 36 s and 40 s response and recovery times, respectively. The device retained 95 % gas sensing stability after the time period of 60 days, suggesting that the fabricated p-type Cu2O thin films are reliable and promising for LPG sensing.
