The Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy on Reducing the Symptoms of Aggression and Parent-Child Conflict in Divorce Children

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness-based therapy on reducing symptoms of aggression and parent-child conflict in divorce children. Method: The research design was semi-experimental and the sample consisted of 24 students of divorced and normal children in the age range of 9-10 years who were selected through purposeful sampling from primary schools in district 3 of Tabriz city and they were matched according to the aggression scores were assigned to control and experimental groups. The tools used in this research included Nelson & Finch's Aggression Questionnaire and Fine et al. Parent-Child Relationship Evaluation Questionnaire. Mindfulness Therapy package was implemented on the experimental group. Univariate covariance analysis test was used to analyze the data. Results: The results of univariate covariance analysis indicated a decrease in the symptoms of aggression and parental-child conflict in the experimental group at the post-test stage (P<0/001). Conclusion: It can be stated based on the findings that mindfulness skills training was effective in reducing the symptoms of aggression and improving the relationship between children and parents in divorced families.
