There have been extreme transformations in the way food is getting produced because of the application of industrial methods to food production and this has given rise to a number of ethical issues. Nowhere, however, does the relevance of a food ethics come more to the forefront than in the case of genetic modification of edible plants. Genetic modification of plants is questioned because it goes against the natural order of things and interferes with their workings. Genetic modification of plants is also debatable for possible negative consequences such as those concerning health and environment that may result from their introduction.
