Smart Shopping Cart

Abstract
This paper presents a Smart Shopping Cart (SSC) that solves the problem of long ques in shopping malls. The shopping cart is installed with RFID sensors that detect any commodity that is placed in the cart. Two motors are used for maneuvering the cart. The human tracking service is activated when the trolley is connected to the Smart Phone of the user through Bluetooth. Ultrasonic sensors are integrated at various positions in the trolley for human following and obstacle avoiding as well. The rate and type of items placed or removed from the cart can be viewed in a display unit. The final billing amount is displayed in the same unit once the user ensures the end of shopping by pressing a button. Provision were made to pay the bill online through e-wallets.
